moving track (2012) is the second piece of "moving" series. "moving" means here unstable, changeable, or floating. This concept derived from "[Unstetheit]" (2009-10). While I interested in something unstable in a fixed frame at that time, everything is flexible and movable in the "moving" series except thematic gestures. I imagined runners on a (short) track which is keep distorting, slightly or dynamically, in a 3 dimensional space.

CCP (Curious Chamber Players) treated this piece with curiosity and passion. Thanks to them, I felt so comfortable during whole rehersals and even in the concert. Really hope to work again with them!

Voix Nouvelles Composition Session in Royaumont

Der dreiwöchige Aufenthalt mit drei Lehrern (Brian Ferneyhough, Raphaël Cendo und Alberto Posadas) und Teilnehmern war eine unvergessliche Erfahrung. Obwohl mein Stück ziemlich weit von meinem Wille ging, weil es zu kompliziert und innerhalb gegebener Probezeit fast unvollziehbar war, wurde das ebenfalls wertvolle Belehrung mit bitteren Geschmack.

Das Stück, moving/ line-movements for Percussion and Piano, besteht aus nicht nur wenigen Tonmaterialen sondern auch sehr begrenzten physischen Gesten. Also, simple Musik mit "virtuose" Bewegung war die unerfüllte Idee, trotz allem Bemühen des Quatuor Makrokosmos, dem ich herzlich dankbar bin. Dennoch wünsche ich es weiterhin, dass es irgendwann von irgendjemanden als Original aufgeführt wird.

The German title of the piece, "dehnbare gedehnte Dehnungen" which means "extendable extended extension", was made like a scrabble game and also it's an implication how the piece was composed.

Helsinki Chamber Choir Workshop

Choir Workshop with Helsinki Chamber Choir at the German Church (Helsinki) on Feb. 2012

  

There were six selected participants with two teachers (Veli-Matti Puumala & Marco Stroppa)

After the workshop, they will revise or recompose their pieces for the final concert in Viitasaari.

Feedbacks and advices from the choir and teachers should help them, of course.

  

Glossolalia - inspired by a biblical scene and also based on my religious experience.


This piece is currently nominated for the Rautavaara Chamber Choir Composition Competition and will be performed at Time of Music Festival (Viitasaari, Finland) on July.


Regardless of the competition-situation, it was a valuable study with extraordinary high-class choir who coorperated for us very devotedly. Feel so lucky!
